Basaksehir 1-2 Galatasaray: Victor Osimhen features from the bench, trails forgotten Eagle by 5 goals

Nigeria and Super Eagles main man Victor Osimhen came off the bench as Galatasaray secured a 2-1 victory against Basaksehir, continuing their impressive title defense in the Turkish Süper Lig.

The Nigerian striker was introduced late in the match during the 74th minute, replacing Mauro Icardi, but he was unable to find the back of the net, maintaining his tally of two goals this season.

Despite the limited impact, Osimhen's appearance signaled his ongoing effort to regain form and influence at the club, especially after a successful international break.

Meanwhile, Osimhen finds himself in a redemption battle as he trails another Nigerian forward in the league's goal-scoring chart in the Super Lig. 

Paul Onuachu, who plays for Trabzonspor, has been in fine form, scoring five more goals than Osimhen this season and continuing to be a vital player for his title-contending team. 

Onuachu's strong start contrasts with Osimhen's quieter return to club football following his heroics for Nigeria against Benin Republic.
