Barcelona Cashes In on Smart Sell-On Clauses
Todibo initially joined West Ham on loan last year with an option to buy, which the London club has now exercised.
Barca will profit from this €8 million windfall thanks to a clause inserted when they sold the Frenchman to Nice for €8.5 million in the summer of 2021.
This brings their total earnings in recent days to €14 million, following Como's activation of Alex Valle's €6 million release clause on Tuesday.
Loan Departures Confirmed as West Ham Shapes Squad
Despite West Ham have secured Todibo's services, loanees Carlos Soler and Evan Ferguson will not be staying.
Both players are returning to their parent clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Brighton, respectively.
Jean-Clair Todibo debuted for Spanish giants Barcelona at the age of 19 and is considered one of the brightest young defenders in European football.
A strong tackler, elite reader of the game and superb distributor of the ball, Todibo helped Nice reach the Coupe de France final in 2022, UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-finals in 2022/23 and achieve two fifth-place finishes in Ligue 1 before departing for England.
