Awoniyi and Aina shine as Nottingham Forest lose to European champions
Super Eagles stars Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina were the cream of the crop for Nottingham Forest in an unfortunate loss to reigning UEFA Europa Conference League champions West Ham.
Nottingham Forest lose despite Awoniyi and Aina performance
Awoniyi scored Nottingham Forest’s equaliser, while Aina assisted the Tricky Tees’ second, but their efforts were unable to stop the their side from suffering a defeat at the London Stadium.
A freak goal from Lucas Paqueta, as well as a Jarrod Bowen goal and a late Tomas Soucek heartbreaker were enough to help West Ham past Nottingham Forest despite goals from Awoniyi and Elanga for the visitors.
The loss continued Nottingham Forest’s poor recent form of two wins in their last 10 Premier League matches, and only one win in the last eight.
Awoniyi and Aina continue impressing for Nottingham Forest
Despite Nottingham Forest’s poor form, both Awoniyi and Aina have impressed on occasion, with the former Liverpool striker scoring four goals and providing two assists in eight Premier League starts this campaign.
While Aina has also scored one and provided one goal for Nottingham Forest this season.
The loss sees Nottingham Forest move closer to the dreaded relegation zone, as they currently sit in 15th place, on 13 points.
