The federation announced that due to unavoidable circumstances, the event will no longer run across two days as initially planned.

The meet, which was earlier set for November 7 and 8, 2025, will now take place on Saturday, November 2025, at the same venue. The decision means that all competitions will be compressed into a single-day programme.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Athletics Kenya assured athletes, coaches and fans that the adjustment was necessary and urged participants to take note of the updated format.

Despite the change, the federation insisted that preparations remain on track and the meeting will proceed smoothly.

Athletics Kenya: Athletes to Collect Bib Numbers on Friday

Alongside the new schedule, Athletics Kenya offered crucial logistical information for competitors. All participating athletes are required to collect their running numbers on Friday, November 7, at 9:00 am. The bibs will be issued at Mumias Complex Primary School.

This early collection is expected to reduce reporting delays and ensure a smooth start to competition on Saturday.

The federation further extended an apology to athletes and stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the abrupt date change, noting that they are working to ensure the meet continues to serve its purpose as an important opening event of Kenya’s new athletics season.

“We apologise for any inconveniences that this change might have caused and wish athletes all the best as they prepare to participate in the meet,” the notice read.

With the event now set for a single competitive day, athletes and coaches will need to adjust their strategies to account for tighter scheduling of races and field events.
