Asaph Mwebaze questions newly laid Nakivubo artificial surface
An artificial turf has been laid at the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, with anticipation that it won't be too long before it gets to work.
However, the newly laid turf has received mixed reactions with many commending developer, Hamis Kiggundu while others have had a thing or two to say about the standards.
Former Soltilo Bright Stars FC head coach Asaph Mwebaze has particularly questioned the choice of the turf.
"In a country that has abundant water resource, do we need a carpet in such a "world class stadium?" He questioned in a facebook post.
While it has it's advantages, artificial turf holds it's challenges and stadiums with this particular surface are not permitted to host 'CAF category 1' matches.
Artificial turf surface pitches have also been identified to possess higher risk rates to injuries than the natural grass.
However, artificial turf has proved to be a lot easier to maintain than the natural grass, hence the choice for the former.
