The dramatic win leaves the Gunners' title hopes firmly intact, while a record-breaking sixth home derby loss this season pushes the Hammers deeper into relegation trouble.

Nuno Espírito Santo's West Ham side faced a daunting task against an Arsenal team relentlessly pursuing their first league title in 22 years. The visitors nearly took an early lead, with Leandro Trossard's header tipped away by Mads Hermansen before a second effort from the Belgian struck the post.

Lots of Pressure on West Ham Defence

The Hammers' defence, led by a resilient Konstantinos Mavropanos, was under constant pressure, with the Greek defender making a crucial block to deny Riccardo Calafiori's header.

However, Arsenal's momentum was disrupted when an injury to Ben White forced an early substitution. Martín Zubimendi came on, and a tactical shuffle saw Declan Rice surprisingly moved to right-back. Sensing an opportunity, West Ham's Crysencio Summerville surged forward but sent his shot wide. The hosts finished the first half strongly, with David Raya making a fine save to deny Taty Castellanos's header from an excellent Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross.

Mikel Arteta adjusted his tactics at halftime, bringing on Cristhian Mosquera for Calafiori and moving Rice back into his familiar midfield role. Despite the change, Arsenal started the second half sluggishly.

The scrappy, disjointed play favoured West Ham, who nearly capitalized when substitute Pablo narrowly missed connecting with El Hadji Malick Diouf's dangerous cross. The Hammers' best chance came shortly after, but Raya produced a superb point-blank save to thwart Mateus Fernandes, keeping Arsenal's title aspirations alive.

That save proved to be the turning point. In a decisive moment, Trossard scored his first goal of the calendar year, his close-range shot deflecting in after a cut-back from Martin Odegaard. The goal tightened Arsenal's grip on the title race and pushed West Ham closer to the drop. There was late drama when Callum Wilson found the net for the hosts, but the goal was disallowed for a foul by Pablo on Raya in the build-up.

Arsenal held on for three crucial points, capping a successful week that keeps their Premier League and Champions League double ambitions alive. For West Ham, it was a devastating result. They remain one point behind survival rivals Tottenham Hotspur, having played an extra game.
