Before the clash against Manchester United, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta noted that the Ghanaian picked up a knock in training.

“I don’t know, unfortunately, he got an injury in training and it doesn’t look good," he said per Football London.

“We need some more tests, we believe he’s going to be out for weeks,” he added. “We think it’s a groin but can be something in between.”

It has now been confirmed that the 28-year-old has injured his groin and will be out for six weeks at the minimum per Football London.

The injury comes as a big blow to Arteta and his Gunners who are looking to go head-to-head with Manchester City for the title this season.

Arsenal currently sit fifth on the table with 10 points, just two below leaders City, who are the only side still with a 100 per cent record in the league this season.

The Gunners have won three of their first four matches but will travel to Everton after the international break without their Ghanaian star Partey.

Partey is also expected to miss Arsenal’s first game in the Champions League after six years of absence, with the Gunners taking on Dutch side PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates.
