Andriy Shevchenko comments on Mykhaylo Mudryk form at Chelsea
Chelsea signed Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee worth £62 million with an additional £26m included in add-ons in the January transfer window after hijacking the deal from Arsenal.
The Ukrainian winger scored 10 goals for Shakhtar Donetsk before making a move to Chelsea but the new signing is yet to register a goal for his new club since he was signed by the Blues and has been criticised by fans.
Andriy Shevchenko backs Chelsea’s new signing
Mykhaylo Mudryk, a Ukrainian forward, was acquired from Shakhtar Donetsk, although his recent performances have failed to win over the crowd. He has drawn criticism for his subpar play in numerous games, and this season, he has yet to leave an impact.
Mykhailo Mudryk has had a slow start to life in the Premier League, but Andriy Shevchenko believes he will succeed at Chelsea.
Shevchenko spoke to BBC Sport, saying, "Chelsea have bought a talented player when he is very young, for the future. He's just starting his path in a massive football career. He's part of an ambitious project. He's in good hands. The decision to get him right now was down to how much the club believe in his talent."
Mudryk display a poor performance against Aston Villa
The Blues lost 2-0 to Aston Villa on Saturday, and Mudryk, who has not registered a goal for his team, turned in another lacklustre display. The Ukrainian international was substituted early in the second half. But, former Chelsea and AC Milan striker Shevchenko is confident that his countryman would soon regain his form at Chelsea.
