Alana Reid: Jamaica's teenage speed sensation allegedly buys luxurious car worth US $51,000

Jamaica's teenage speed sensation Alana Reid has allegedly bought her first car - a luxurious Mercedes C300 4MATIC Coupe worth about US $51,000.

The 18-year-old posted a picture of herself inside a Mercedes Benz store with the car on her Insta story, and many believe she has purchased it.

Reid made the world pay attention to her talent in March 2023, when she first clocked a Personal Best of 11.16s in the 100m semifinal at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships in Kingston, Jamaica.

Then in the final, she ran a blistering 10.92s to set a new national junior record, erasing the 10.95s set by Tina Clayton in 2022. It made her the fifth-fastest junior athlete of all time, behind only Katrin Krabbe (10.89s), Marlies Oelsner (10.88s), Tamari Davis (10.83s) and Sha'Carri Richardson (10.75s), and also placed her eleventh on the Jamaican all-time list.

Three months later, Reid announced her decision to turn professional and signed a multi-year deal with sports apparel manufacturing giant Nike.

However, the biggest shock of the season came when the world U20 bronze medallist in the 200m made a shocking move in October to start training under the guidance of Sha'Carri Richardson's coach Dennis Mitchell at the Florida-based Star Athletics Track Club in the US.

While most fans are congratulating the youngster's decision, many have other thoughts on the decision.
