Alan Shearer Snubs Bruno Fernandes and Record Signings in Liverpool-Dominated Combined XI
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has delivered a stark assessment of Manchester United's current squad, selecting only one of their players in a combined XI with rivals Liverpool.
In a surprising lineup that underscores the gap between the two clubs, even United's captain and talisman, Bruno Fernandes, failed to make the cut. The selection serves as a harsh reality check for the Red Devils as they prepare for their upcoming trip to Anfield.
While the historic rivalry remains a major fixture, recent results have heavily favored Liverpool. They have won five of the last ten meetings across all competitions, losing just two, with a staggering aggregate score of 33-11.

Shearer's verdict remains unchanged despite Liverpool's recent dip in form, which has seen them lose their last three matches.
Liverpool’s Recent Dominance Highlights the Growing Gap
In contrast, Manchester United have won two of their last three, yet Liverpool are still widely considered the favorites for the clash.
Speaking to Betfair about the fixture's significance, Shearer highlighted the pressure on both sides.
"Liverpool v Man United is always big because of the size of both clubs," he said.
"With Liverpool having lost three on the spin which no-one saw coming and Man United being the way they are, there's no doubt there is extra spice to this game. It's a game that both teams have to go and win for different reasons."
The lone Manchester United player to break into Shearer's team is Luke Shaw. The England international gets the nod at left-back over Liverpool's Milos Kerkez, with Shearer seemingly prioritizing the defensive experience of the 30-year-old, who has often featured as a left-sided center-back for United this season.
Only Luke Shaw Makes Shearer’s Combined XI
The rest of the team is a sea of Liverpool red. Alisson is selected in goal, protected by a backline of Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, and Virgil van Dijk alongside Shaw.
In midfield, Shearer opted for a dynamic trio of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch. This decision meant there was no room for Liverpool's own record signing, £116m midfielder Florian Wirtz.
The snubs of high-profile players continued in attack. Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool for a club-record £125m, was also overlooked by the Premier League's all-time top scorer. Instead, Shearer chose Hugo Ekitike to lead the line, flanked by Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.
Summing up United's chances at Anfield, Shearer was blunt.
"Man United would snap your hand off for a point, there's no doubt about that," he concluded.
"It's easier said than done though because... there'll be a great atmosphere at Anfield. There always is."
