There was a clash of two Nigerian titans in the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League (SPL).
Nigerian football legends Odion Ighalo and William Troost Ekong went head to head in a midweek clash.
Ekong keeps Ighalo quiet in Saudi Arabia
Ighalo one of the top goalscorers in Saudi Arabian football battled Ekong who recently joined the new league.
Ekong took his place in defense for Al Kholood while Ighalo spearheaded the attack for Al Wehda.
There was little action in the first half as both sides were cautious trying to spring on the counterattack.
The second half provided the spark as Al Wehda were reduced to 10 players following a second yellow card to Ahmed Bandar Darwish in the 57th minute.
Just three minutes later, Al Kholood went in front when Alex Collado converted a ball through to him by Al Hawsawi.
In the 71st minute, Ighalo was substituted for Abdulaziz Noor with Al Wehda looking for the equalizer.
Al Kholood went on to win the game with one goal and get all three points.
Ekong played a pivotal role in keeping Ighalo quiet recording a clean sheet and featured for 90 minutes.
