African UFC star reveals why he copied Adesanya's after win
David Onama recorded an emphatic second TKO win over Gabriel Santos at a UFC fight night event at Jacksonville.
The Ugandan mixed martial artist threw a flurry of punches before an uppercut sent the Brazilian crashing down on the canvass.
After the referee stopped the fight Onama then copied Israel Adesanya’s imaginary bow and arrow celebration when he defeated Alex Pereira at UFC 287 to reclaim his middleweight championship.
Why Onama celebrated like Adesanya
Obama shot several times at helpless Santos lying down unconscious as he earned a fight of the night bonus from the UFC.
He told MMA Junkie:
“That’s my guy, Izzy.
“Izzy fought a Brazilian and I was like, ‘I’m going to do what Izzy did. I’m going to knock this kid out then I’m going to celebrate like Izzy.’ And it showed, so.”
It was Onama’s third win in five fights since joining the UFC and he celebrated his victory copying middleweight champion Adesanya.
