African recognition - Super Falcons win CAF Womens’s National Team of the Year

Their triumph in 2025 was pushed by another stellar year, which culminated in a record 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

In a thrilling final, the Falcons overcame host nation Morocco with a 3-2 victory, after being two goals down in the first half.

Their performance has been recognised by CAF, with the team being awarded the best women’s team of the year.

According to CAF official X account, “Records? Set. Awards? Won! Nigeria are the Women's National Team of the Year #CAFAwards2025.”

Following the recognition, this marks their third consecutive win, following victories in 2023 and 2024.

The latest accolade reinforces the team's long-standing reputation as the continent's most formidable and consistent squad.

The Super Falcons' history with this award is extensive, having first claimed the honour in 2010.

They have now gone on to win it in 2014, 2016, and 2018, before embarking on their current three-year winning streak.
