AFC Leopards’ woes are far from over following the injuries to two key players at a time when they are going through a poor run of form.

Leopards face Ulinzi Stars in the FKF Premier League on Wednesday afternoon, looking to end a run of six games without a win, a poor return that has ended their slim title hopes and sees them in seventh place on the table.

Ingwe’s woes have been compounded by their lack of goals with five scored in their last nine league matches, during a period in which they have only won two, drawing five and losing two.

Worryingly for Leopards, four of the five draws have ended 0-0 with the other one being a 1-1 stalemate with Shabana, which shows their desperate need for a striker.

However, any hopes of changing that soon has received a blow following news that striker Sydney Lokale and full-back Fredrick Alushula will be out for months with injuries.

“Sydney Lokale suffered a torn posterior horn lateral meniscus - a non-contact injury. He underwent surgery on the articular cartilage of his left knee and will be out for 4 months,” Leopards said via a social media post.

“Fredrick Alushula had a grade II tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus on his left knee. He's been out for 6 weeks and will be going for review,” the club further said.

The update thins the options for coach Fred Ambani’s options, especially in attack where he has had to rely on midfielders and wide players while lacking a focal point.

Leopards need a quick return to winning ways to avoid slipping further down on the table as their poor run has cost them a place among the title contenders at a time when the leading duo Tusker, Kenya Police and Gor Mahia have been dropping points.

Ingwe have suffered back-to-back defeats to Posta Rangers and Kakamega Homeboyz, a run that followed four straight draws to stay in seventh position on the table with 37 points from 26 matches.
