AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani remains confident that his side will dislodge Gor Mahia and win the FKF Premier League title for the first time since 1998.

Ingwe have waited for title glory for nearly 30 years and things have been made worse by the success of bitter rivals Gor Mahia, who have raked up nine titles in the last 13 years.

Ambani is, however, determined to stop K’Ogalo from making it 10 in 13 years as his team is currently two points behind Gor Mahia, sitting second on the log with 55 points from 27 games, while their bitter rivals have 57 from 26 matches.

The only way to do that is to stay consistent and they are showing a remarkable run, having won their last four games which has contributed to Ambani being crowned SportPesa League Coach of the Month for March.

Why Ambani Believes Ingwe Can Do It

“March was an important month for us because the team showed character and belief in every match. Our focus now is to maintain this momentum and keep pushing towards our goals,” Ambani said after receiving his award.

“It’s been a while since our club was in such a strong position around this time of the season. We are taking it a game at a time and hopefully we’ll give our loyal fans something to celebrate at season end.”

Ambani received Ksh75,000 for the award, his second this season, having also been crowned coach of the month for December.

Leopards started March with a 5-1 thumping of Shabana FC before a shock 4-1 loss to Mathare United, a result that left them 10 points adrift of Gor Mahia, but with K’Ogalo drawing two of their last five games, Ingwe have closed in following three straight 1-0 wins over Nairobi United, Tusker FC and Kariobangi Sharks as well as last week’s 2-0 victory against Murang’a Seal.
