Tyson Otieno Responds to Harambee Stars Snub With Starring Role as AFC Leopards Close in On Gor Mahia
AFC Leopards moved to within four points of FKF Premier League leaders Gor Mahia following a 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks thanks to Tyson Otieno’s effort.
Former Sharks man Otieno ran the show against the club that turned him into the star that he is and it was only fitting that it was him who decided the outcome of the contest at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Otieno scored in the 57th minute when his speculative shot sailed into the net with the Sharks goalkeeper unable to get a hand on it.
Leopards had survived early pressure especially in the 18th minute when David Majak missed from close range at a time he just needed to stretch his leg a little to direct the ball into the net.

After that, it was all Leopards with Otieno the architect. His first real act was in the 30th minute when he picked Sam Senyonjo with a great through ball but the Leopards man somehow failed to pull the trigger before Faiz Opande took it from his legs.
Otieno then found Fredrick Alushula with another lovely pass but the Leopards star fired over the bar after 40 minutes.
Sharks would get their first shot on target when Humphrey Aroko’s low shot was kept out by Leopards goalkeeper James Ssetuba’s outstretched leg.
After a goalless first half, Ingwe continued asking the questions and in the 49th minute, Hassan Beja had a good opportunity but fired wide.

That was until the 57th minute when Otieno made a good run on the right and received a pass from James Kinyanjui. He brought in what looked like a cross designed to find a teammate but somehow, the ball sailed into the net.
Ingwe would get another glorious opportunity deep in stoppage time when Kelly Madada got into the box with only the goalkeeper to beat but the youngster failed to pull the trigger as the chance went begging.
However, Leopards collected all points to take their tally to 52 points from 26 league matches, four behind leaders Gor Mahia, who have played one game less, reviving their title aspirations.
