Ademola Lookman sacrificed as Atalanta suffer first defeat of the season
Despite the half-time substitution of their star forward Ademola Lookman, Atalanta failed to complete a comeback against Frosinone, suffering a 2-1 defeat.
Le Dea were inflicted their first loss of the season by newly promoted side Frosinone at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.
What happened
Atalanta travelled to Frosinone buoyed by a win in their season opener against Sassuolo, and they were expected to make it two wins in two, with their opponent being a recently promoted side who lost their last match.
The Giallazzurri shocked the visitors with an early goal in the fifth minute of the game when Abdou Harroui got on the end of a Riccardo Marchizza delivery.
Llario Monterisi made it two around 20 minutes after they got the first, beating Juan Musso to make it 2-0.
Ademola Lookman was booked in the 40th minute and was subsequently subbed at halftime as Gian Pierro Gasperini attempted to influence the game from the sidelines.
The changes seemed to work, as Duvan Zapata pulled one back 10 minutes after resuming from the break.
However, despite their best efforts, La Dea could not manage an equaliser as they suffered their first defeat of the season.
