Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi and Jordan Obita had a chance to face each other as Motherwell overcame Hibernian 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday night.

Mugabi, who was recalled to the Uganda Cranes shortly after the match, played a key role for Motherwell in their first win of the season.

England-born Ugandan left-back Jordan Obita was handed his full debut after two impressive performances coming off the bench in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the league opener last week.

Connor Wilkinson broke the deadlock six minutes after the hour, then Mika Biereth doubled the win with minutes to go at Motherwell’s home ground at Fir Park.

Second-half substitute Adam Le Fondre grabbed one back for  Hibernians, but it was too late to scrap something from the match.

Obita and his Hibernians will now focus on their second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference league against Swiss side Luzern FC on Thursday.

The Scottish side leads 3-1 from the first leg, in which Obita scored the third to grab a comfortable win.
