25-goal Zambian woman feeling the heat after becoming world's most expensive footballer
The world's most expensive women's footballer Rachael Kundananji has spoken out about the pressure that comes with her staggering transfer to NWSL side Bay FC.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the Zambian forward, who made the move from Madrid CFF in a record-breaking deal, acknowledged the high expectations placed upon her by fans and opponents alike.
Zambian speaks on pressure
Kundananji made football history by becoming the most expensive women’s footballer ever after Bay FC shattered the transfer world record in women's football by signing the Zambian.
The NSWL side paid Madrid CFF a staggering €735,000 (approximately $789,000) to prise her away as she became the latest African star to join the NWSL side after Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, who joined the club as a free agent from Barcelona.
However, Kundananji has admitted to feeling "intense pressure" after becoming the worlds most expensive footballer with her transfer to Bay FC.
"There is so much pressure on me," Kundananji admitted per a report from Goal. "But I just have to calm down, focus on my work, and continue playing football. This is not the end. It's just the beginning."

The pressure is on, and the Zambian star is not denying it. But with her eyes firmly set on making an impact at her new club, Kundananji is determined to prove her worth and show why she was worth every penny of the transfer fee.
Despite the pressure on her, the forward has the pedigree to prove her worth to her new club and supporters having netted 25 goals in 23 matches for former club Madrid CFF.
Kundananji doesn’t have to wait too long with the new NWSL season set to kick off in just three days when Bay take on Angel City.
