Due to concerns about fraud, Chelsea legend John Terry, the assistant coach at Leicester City, became part of the social media trend.
Fans of rival teams said that Terry's likeness may be observed in an NFT fraudster sought after by FBI cyber detectives.
The former Chelsea player's name is trending on Twitter after a UK site, BazakeMedia, published an edit of a guy who is supposedly wanted by the FBI cyber division for NFT fraud and who resides in the UK.

The statement by a blog along with the edit said, "FBI cyber fraud detectives have released an edit of a man wanted in connection with multimillion-dollar NFT fraud.
“The man is believed to be in his early forties and possibly lives in the UK."
Social media users who think the alleged FBI edit resembles the former Chelsea captain are giving it ratings of 6 and 9.
Terry used to be well-known in the NFT community, but for the past year or so he has been quiet in promoting any token.
He issued a "Ape Kids Football Club" NFT token in 2022, and according to The Athletic, the scheme's value collapsed by 90% after five months.
Aside from being surrounded by trophies such as the Community Shield, FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League, and Europa League, the cartoon baby monkey also wore an armband.
According to UK publication The Guardian, Terry was made to remove the Premier League trophy from his non-fungible token after the League launched an investigation into him.
