Beauty and brains: Meet the woman who has become Victor Wanyama’s key support system

Victor Wanyama’s partner is not your ordinary WAG, she was already an accomplished career woman even before she met the ex-Harambee Stars captain.

Actress and former TV presenter Serah Teshna has never hid her love for ex-Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama.

Teshna and Wanyama have been together for over seven years and even though they have never confirmed the status of their relationship, they have been living together in Canada where the footballer is based as he continues his club duties with MLS side CF Montreal.

But unlike many other women married or dating footballers who become famous due to the popularity of their partners, Teshna is not your ordinary WAG.

The mother of one was already famous even before it was publicly known that she was romantically involved with Wanyama due to her acting and media duties.

She featured in a host of local TV shows such as Lies that Bind, Briefcase Inc, Nairobi Law, Sue na Johnnie among others and also features in a number of series and films like The Rugged Priest and most recently the Showmax series Igiza.

Teshna was awarded the Best Lead Actress in a Film at the 2011 Kalasha Awards, for her role in The Rugged Priest, and also won an award for the Best Lead Actress during the Kenya Film Festival Awards in 2012.

The 36-year-old is also an accomplished TV host who hosted programmes like The Skin Therapy and Urbane Living with her last TV job being as a presenter of breakfast show Alfajiri on K24 TV.

“I enjoyed Alfajiri even though at first, I was a bit scared about hosting a live TV show. I had a big following and I connected with fans. Sometimes I miss them. Besides, K24 is home,” Teshna told The Standard after quitting her TV job four years ago.

“I had to be up by 3am and in studio at 4am ready to start. You can get so occupied with the job that you have no time to catch up with friends or even family. It can get really crazy.”

After quitting her TV job, the Tourism Management and Sociology graduate continued with her acting career for a couple of years before she took a break and relocated to Canada to be with Wanyama.

The soccer mom, as she calls herself on Instagram, has, however, continued to model various products and outfits, staying true to her passion for fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

With some extra time on her hands, Teshna has dedicated most of to taking care of the couple’s son, while supporting her partner with regular visits to Montreal’s Saputo Stadium to cheer him on while he plays.

The couple also travels together around the world with some of their visits taking them to football stadiums such as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London where Wanyama lived for over four years while playing for Spurs in the Premier League.
