A look into how your favourite sports stars turned up for the 2023 Met Gala
A number of sports personalities turned up for the world's most prestigious and glamorous fashion event, Met Gala including Serena Williams and Roger Federer.
The event is an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
1) Serena Williams
Retired Tennis star Serena Williams looked incredible in her Gucci dress and her Tiffany and co jewelry. Besides serving looks, the tennis icon made a splash at the event with the announcement of her pregnancy.
2) Roger Federer
The 2008 Olympic champion, dressed by Kim Jones, rocked hi black and white classic suit with pride. The swiss man also served as this year’s Co-Chair alongside Anna Wintour, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, and Andrew Bolton.
3) Eileen Gu
The double Olympic champion rocked in her Robert Wun Wine Stain Gown, a silk satin piece deliberately stained with a mix of dyes, beetroot juice, and red wine to mimic a spill. The Chinese Skier completed her look with an IWC Schaffhausen timepiece.
4) Dwayne Wade
The former basketball player turned heads at the 2023 MET Gala with his head-to-toe black Prada piece. The three-time NBA champion with Miami Heat wowed fans after he was filmed calling his daughter, Zaya, to show her the steps of the Met before walking on it.
He enjoyed the company of his lovely wife, actress Gabrielle Union.
5) Brittney Yevette Griner
The two-time Olympic champion (with the USA women’s national basketball team) also looked stunning in a tan piece from Calvin Klein that included tailored trousers and a long overcoat. She was in the company of her wife, Cherelle T. Griner, who also looked beautiful in her strapless column dress.
Griner currently plays for WNBA side Phoenix Mercury and is the first WNBA player to attend the Met Gala.
6) Patrick Mahomes
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback oozed style in a black suit from Hugo Boss. He was with his wife, Brittany, who wore an off-the-shoulder white gown that was bedazzled at the top.
7) Russel Westbrook
He is no stranger to the Met since it was his third time gracing the event. He looked sharp in a tweed jacket, a nod to a Chanel staple that featured flowery clasps. The outfit, designed by Bode, was paired with patterned pants. He completed it with a pearl necklace.
