"The boys did not just do it for themselves. They did it for their families and the 40 million plus Kenyans who rallied behind us," he said.
At just 23, Wekesa has quickly risen to a leadership role within the squad, having made his Shujaa debut in 2021.

"Heading into the Olympics, we have high hopes and we aim to medal there," he stated.
Wekesa also highlighted the importance of their dedicated fanbase, who have supported the team across various destinations.
"It means everything to us, especially the fans who traveled to all our destinations. We have now already confirmed to them there are more destinations next season. They will give us the motivation to continue achieving our targets," he added.
