Kenyan athletes have been investing in new homes in recent years and Ferdinand Omanyala has joined the list after completing his mansion valued at Ksh50 million.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is already preparing for life after athletics and part of that includes having a secure home for his family.

Omanyala, who is the African record holder, has been carefully investing his athletics earnings with a multimillion mansion part of what he has put his money in.

The 30-year-old recently shared how he avoids investing in land, favouring the liquidity of government bonds, which provide him with a steady stream of passive income while ensuring his capital remains readily available.

But on the rare occasions when he invested in land, it was to put up a home and it is a magnificent property that leaves him with a lot of pride after completing it last year.

What Makes Omanya’s House Stand Out

Omanyala's mansion sits on a large compound.

Omanyala built his seven-bedroom mansion in the outskirts of Nairobi, designed to his taste while boasting modern architecture.

In keeping with Omanyala’s knack for doing things differently, the sprinter opted for a flat-roofed mansion which has a modern exterior made up of pure concrete with a boxy, symmetrical layout.

Omanyala’s house has large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow in ample natural light while he has chosen different shades of colours on the bulbs for night vision.

The mansion has a visible balcony that has metallic grills and multiple floors with a railing and a terrace. Its finishing has been done in a crisp manner and is grey in colour, matching his taste.

Sprinter’s Love for Large Space Visible

Omanya’s house sits on a large compound that has enough space which can serve as parking for many cars and also allows him to host outdoor events with grey prefabricated concrete paving blocks, popularly known as cabro, laid all round.

It is a house that fits Omanyala’s status as a global icon as it has a large living room, walk-in closet with the master suite, a master bathroom while the main kitchen extends into a bright dining area.

Omanyala also opted for a concrete wall all-round the compound with an electrical and hot wire fence around it.

In an interview with Nation last year, Omanyala estimated that the house was going to set him back Ksh50 million and it is a worthy investment that gives him peace away from the hustle and bustle of track and field.
