President Ruto has boosted Harambee Stars' cash rewards, offering more millions and other rewards ahead of their crucial CHAN 2024 match against Zambia.
Harambee Stars are in for a big treat as they gear up for their final group stage match in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024).
Kenya will be up against the Zambian giants on Sunday, August 17, hoping to conclude their Group A campaign on a high and proceed to the quarterfinal to continue their winning ways.
Harambee Stars have since been motivated further following President William Ruto’s bold promise, which will surely give them the zeal to succeed when they step on the pitch at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

CHAN 2024: President William Ruto Announces More Millions for Harambee Stars
Upon his visit to Harambee Stars and the entire technical bench at the Pullman Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi, President Ruto lauded the players for their hard-fought win over two-time CHAN champions Morocco.
Going into the match, the Atlas Lions were the favourites to dominate, but Harambee Stars were unstoppable as they claimed a 1-0 victory.
President Ruto also pointed out that the unity among Harambee Stars players is what has propelled them to top honours so far and urged them to continue with that spirit if they intend to make huge strides.

He also announced an increased cash reward for them, noting that if they emerge victorious against Zambia, each player will be given Ksh 2.5 million.
“The Harambee Stars are proof of what unity can achieve. They have brought the country together, and we are all witnessing the success it is bringing to the nation. We stand behind you, praying that this time we win will CHAN because it’s within close reach,” President Ruto said.
“We’ve also agreed on rewards: A win against Zambia next Sunday will earn each player KSh2.5 million. If they triumph in the quarter-finals, each will be gifted KSh1 million and a two-bedroom affordable housing unit in a location of their choice.”
CHAN 2024: Harambee Stars Millions Earned So Far
President William Ruto had initially pledged cash rewards for every match won or drawn. For a win, Harambee Stars would pocket Ksh 1 million, and they have so far claimed top honours in their matches against DR Congo and Morocco.
For every draw, each player is set to walk away with Ksh 500,000, and Harambee Stars held Angola to a 1-1 draw against Angola.
Initially, President William Ruto had also promised the players Ksh 60 million if they reached the quarterfinals, Ksh 70 million for a semifinal appearance, and Ksh 600 million if they won the title.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also announced a prize purse of KSh 1.3 billion for CHAN 2024.
For the quarterfinals, Harambee Stars are guaranteed KSh 58.1 million ($450,000) in addition to the KSh 25.8 million ($200,000) they were already assured for participating in the tournament.
Reaching the semifinal would guarantee Ksh 70 million for the team, and finishing in third would see them walk away with Ksh 90.4 million ($700,000) for the team.
