PGK Chairman CJ Wangai emphasized the program's potential to help Kenyan golfers achieve their Olympic dreams while also earning a living.

Olympic qualification hinges on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). The top 15 players qualify, with a maximum of four per country.

Beyond the top 15, further spots are allocated based on the OWGR, with a limit of two per country if they don't already have two or more in the top 15.

“This development program, backed by corporate sponsors, will offer intensive training that includes fitness regimens, club fitting, and swing simulator sessions,” Wangai explained to Pulse Sports.

“The Equator Tour, which consists of 11 events held across the country, will serve as a complement to this training.”

Wangai outlined the PGK's goal of qualifying for the 2028 Olympics within the next three years.

He highlighted the need for Kenyan tournaments to meet OWGR criteria, including a minimum prize purse of $3,000 USD and at least ten events, to allow players to earn ranking points at home.

Wangai expressed the PGK's ambition to see Kenyan golfers break into the OWGR top 100, which will require participation in numerous international tournaments.

He optimistically suggested that the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics could be a historic moment for Kenyan golf.
