KCB head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno has revealed his pleasure at his team’s game management after the bankers beat Mathare United 1-0 in a league match that took place at the Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday afternoon.

The side were able to withstand some amounts of pressure from Mathare United before a Musa Masika free kick in the 60th minute was enough to give the club all three points and put them on 57 points..

“Mathare came into the game well. In the first half we had some scoring opportunities in the opening 20 minutes but we let them back into the game,” he said.

“They finished the first half strongly but in the second half, we dominated the game throughout the second half and got the goal we deserved. I want to thank my players for ending our run of a couple of games without winning," he added.

Zico’s men bundled themselves out of the title race following a patchy run of form in April and May. The former Gor Mahia coach therefore opted to take the positives out of gaining all three points.

“It is a pass for us. Looking at where we are and the number of points we have gathered, we can be happy. We still have nine points to fight for and hope we can finish as highly as possible,” he concluded.

KCB are fifth on 57 points, possessing the best defensive record having conceded just 15 goals, but their lack of enough goals means their goal difference of 15 is not very healthy, which means Kenya Police, who share the spoils points wise, are fourth but with a goal difference of 30.
