Women's Champions League Final: UEFA confirm tickets sold out as Oshoala, Barcelona, to play Wolfsburg

It will be the fourth European final for the Nigerian striker who in 2021, became the first African woman to win the UEFA Champions League.

UEFA has revealed that tickets for its 2023 Women’s Champions League final between Barcelona Femini and Wolfsburg have been sold out ahead of the Saturday, June 3 tie at the PSV Stadium in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

It becomes the first time that tickets for the competition's final would be fully sold out since the tournament was rebranded as the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2009/10.

Nigeria's Oshoala set to play in 4th Champions League final

Having played in the finals of the 2018/19, 2020/21, and 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League, Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala will feature in fourth in 2023.

In 2019, Oshoala became the first African (and Nigerian) player to score a goal in a Women's Champions League final but lost the title to Lyon.

Two years later, the Nigerian became the first African woman to win the UEFA Champions League as Barcelona edged Chelsea 4–0 in the finals but failed to win it for a consecutive as Barcelona for a second time, lost to Lyon in the 2022 final.

With Lyon out of the way, Oshoala who has scored the most goals for Barcelona Femini in all competitions this season (26), will hope that she can lay her hands on the title, for a second time.

Over 34,100 tickets sold - UEFA

According to UEFA, the 2022/23 final is set to will surpass the previous attendance record for a women's football match in the Netherlands, which was previously achieved in 2019 when the Dutch national team met Australia - again at the PSV Stadium - in front of 30,640 fans.

"This is the first time we have fully sold out a Women's Champions League final. And that's a few weeks in advance, which is just another sign that we have reached a new level," Nadine Kessler, UEFA managing director of women's football revealed in a statement.

"It’s going to be an amazing occasion for everyone, whether in the stadium or in front of the TV."

So far, over 34,100 tickets have been sold, ensuring the showpiece will break that record.
