Daniel Sakari, one of the five senior players in the Tusker FC leadership group, had the honor of captaining the team in their final match of the season on Sunday against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The versatile defender led the team to a 1-0 victory at the Ruaraka Complex, ensuring a triumphant end to the season. The versatile defender ensured he led the team to finish off on a high, with a 1-0 victory against the visitors at the Ruaraka Complex.

Now Sakari, who has won 12 caps for the Harambee Stars since his debut back in 2019, has expressed delight at having finally skippered the side to a victory on the afternoon.

“It is a moment of pride for me. It feels amazing, and definitely more of this to come,” Sakari said after the final match.

He added; “It was great to finish off the season with victory. We have played against them (Homeboyz) thrice this season and they beat us two times, but we had to ensure we get some respect back by winning the last game of the season.”

Meanwhile, Sakari says the team feels the season wasn’t entirely perfect after failing to land a trophy, but has promised the players will use that pain as fuel for next season.

“We will keep on working and just becoming better. With time we will be a great team and we hope for a better next season. We want to battle and win trophies.

“We thank the fans for their support this season and we promise to do better next season and make them proud,” added the assistant captain.

It remains to be seen whether Sakari will extend his stay at the club beyond the end of the season as his contract comes to a close.

In January, the former Kariobangi Sharks was in concrete talks to join Bandari, but the deal was cut short after head coach Robert Matano intervened , which blocked his chance.

Pulse Sports understands that the player is ready for a new challenge having achieved whatever he can at the club, but his sentiments may well suggest that he could look forward to extend his deal.
