Tottenham's dominant display ended in frustration as costly lapses allowed Nottingham Forest to snatch a 2-1 win, leaving Ange Postecoglou lamenting another game they 'shouldn’t lose.'

Tottenham Hotspur endured another tough outing on Monday, April 21, as they welcomed Nottingham Forest to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a Premier League match.

The Spurs, having hosted the game, were expected to win the match but lost 2-1 to Forest, who left nothing to chance.

Elliot Anderson started the momentum for Nottingham Forest, scoring in the fifth minute before Chris Wood added another goal in the 16th minute.

The first half was highly dominated by Nottingham Forest as Spurs missed several chances. Coming back for the second half, the trend continued, but in the 87th minute, Richarlison scored a header, but time was not on their side.

The loss comes after Tottenham Hotspur received a heavy thrashing in their Premier League match against Wolves. Playing at the Molineux Stadium, the Spurs were beaten 4-2.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou insisted that the players gave their all during the match, despite the few missed chances.

He explained that the players did not know how to manage the game well, but overall, they gave their best shots at any chance they got.

Ange Postecoglou added that their style of play was brilliant despite the few challenges they faced, insisting that they needed to win the game.

“It’s another game we’ve lost where we shouldn’t lose. It’s been a big part of our season in that we just make things really difficult for ourselves in key moments,” he said as per One Football.

“It’s a shame because our football was outstanding. We totally dominated the game. Even with the two goals we conceded, I still felt like we deserved to win the game.

“At the same time, it’s another unacceptable loss. It’s just really frustrating, because our football was so good that you’ve lost another game.”

Ange Postecoglou also pointed out that the players looked forward to playing a great match, and motivation was not an issue.

However, he pointed out that their concentration during key moments in the game is what cost them a win over Nottingham Forest.

“It’s not like we lost because the players chucked it in. If that’s what people saw, they are watching something different to me,” he said.

“We should learn from these things, but it is a constant in our makeup at the moment. It’s something we need to eradicate.

“Tonight, at the start, we didn’t really sense the only threat Forest were going to have were on the counter attack, which I thought we handled very well, and set-pieces. We gave away two poor goals.”

With the win, Nottingham Forest have climbed to third place in the Premier League table with 60 points. Tottenham Hotspur are currently in 16th place with 37 points.
