Former Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama was subbed on in the 87th minute as CF Montreal lost 4-1 to Nashville as his worrying situation shows no sign of ending.

Former Harmbee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama was subbed on in the 87th minute as CF Montreal were brushed aside 4-1 by Nashville on matchday 11 of the 2024 MLS season.

Wanyama has become a bench warmer at Montreal since the middle of last season with former coach Hernan Losada and his successor Laurent Courtois preferring a midfield of Canadian stars Choiniere and Samuel Piette with youngster Nathan Saliba also ahead of the Kenyan player.

It remains to be seen whether he could still play for the club on a regular basis, and as Pulse Sports reported earlier this week, a door could open for Wanyama to enjoy more regular playing time after MLS All-Star Mathieu Choiniere reportedly requested a trade from his boyhood club.

Meanwhile, Sam Surridge proved to be the star of the show for Nashville as they registered that resounding victory.

Surridge opened the scoring for Nashville in the 12th minute, seizing an opportunity provided by Dru Yearwood's assist to slot a precise right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Yearwood's contribution marked his third assist of the season, highlighting his impact in his debut campaign with the club following his stint with the New York Red Bulls.

Walker Zimmerman doubled Nashville's lead in the 21st minute, registering his first goal of the season with an assist from Hany Mukhtar.

The home side continued to dominate as Surridge netted his second goal of the match just two minutes into the second half, extending Nashville's lead to 3-0 with assists from Mukhtar and Yearwood.

Despite Montreal's efforts, their lone goal came through an own goal by Zimmerman in the 65th minute.

However, Surridge quickly extinguished any hopes of a comeback with his third goal of the match in the 82nd minute, completing his hat-trick in style.

Mukhtar played a pivotal role once again, providing his fifth assist of the season for Surridge's final goal.
