Asuza took his own life by jumping out of a moving vehicle on Thika Road before being crushed to death by another as he struggled to come to terms with his mother's death.

US-based former FKF Premier League star Joseph Chama Asuza has passed away in very tragic circumstances.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Asuza, fondly known as ‘Asuu’,  met his end in a road accident on Thika Road. He jumped out of a moving cab before being crushed to death by another oncoming vehicle on Sunday afternoon.

His untimely demise comes at a time of profound grief as he was making arrangements for his mother's burial, who had passed away just a week prior due to cardiac arrest.

Asuza, a revered figure in Kenyan football circles, plied his trade Red Berets before transitioning to a different career path in the United States, where he worked as a security officer with the United Nations.

Despite being miles away from his homeland, Asuza remained deeply connected to his roots, as evidenced by his swift return upon hearing of his mother's passing.

According to former Harambee Stars striker Boniface Ambani,  Asuza was in deep distress as he came to terms with his mothers’ death, and gave a first hand account of events as they happened , being one of the last people to have seen him alive.

“On Friday evening I paid a courtesy call on his family at Lusui, Chanda Village. He looked so distressed and so disturbed,” Ambani wrote on his Facebook page.

“The mum's death really hit him hard.I gave him company till midnight and we planned to meet the next day,but he told me he is traveling to Nairobi early morning of Saturday to go make arrangements on how the mum's body would be ferried back home for burial this coming Saturday.

“I told him it's okay , but asked his young bro to make sure he(Asuu) doesn't drive. I talked to him in length. “

According to Ambani, Asuza and his brother arrived safely on Saturday, but the former striker lost his life the next day

Tragically, fate had a cruel twist in store. Asuza, accompanied by his younger brother, embarked on the journey to Nairobi early Saturday morning to oversee the arrangements for his mother's final rites.

However, the journey ended in an unimaginable tragedy as Asuza's life was abruptly cut short in a fatal road accident along Thika Road.

The news of Asuza's demise sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends and well-wishers grappling with disbelief and profound sorrow.

Many struggled to comprehend the cruel irony of losing Asuza while he was mourning the loss of his beloved mother, leaving behind a void that seems insurmountable.

“It has taken me a lot of courage since yesterday, to pen this down. Why Asuu. Why?  Mum and Son gone,” Ambani continued, before sending condolences to his family.

“ God give this family strength to overcome this.... How do I start tying Rest well bro? How? How? Asuu, Asuu.”

In the wake of this devastating loss, the outpouring of grief and condolences has been overwhelming.

As friends and family come to terms with the tragic reality, they cling to cherished memories of Asuza's indomitable spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering determination both on and off the football field.

Asuza's journey may have been cut short, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved mother in a place free from pain and sorrow.
