Police will be hoping to keep their maiden continental hopes alive with a win over Sofapaka in the FKF Cup

Kenya Police are gearing up for a crucial clash against Sofapaka in the quarter-finals of the FKF Cup, scheduled to take place at Dandora Stadium on Saturday at 3 PM local time.

The law enforcement team is eyeing a spot in the semi-finals as they look to make their mark in the domestic cup competition.

Having earned promotion to the top-tier league three years ago after a successful campaign in the 2020–2021 second-tier league, Kenya Police initially faced challenges in their maiden season.

However, they have steadily improved and are now considered one of the most formidable teams in the league.

Under the guidance of Coach Salim Babu, Kenya Police currently sit in second place in the 18-team league with 48 points, trailing table-toppers Gor Mahia by six points.

With the league taking a break to make way for domestic cup action, Police are set to resume their quest for silverware in the cup quarter-finals at the Batoto Ba Mungu's expense.

In the previous edition of the competition, Kenya Police were eliminated in the quarter-finals by fellow law enforcers, Ulinzi Stars, who secured a 2-0 victory.

This year, Police are determined to advance further in the tournament and have their sights set on reaching the finals.

Despite a substandard season, Sofapaka will be looking to capitalize on this opportunity to reignite their winning form.

Meanwhile, at 12 PM, defending champions Kakamega Homeboyz will take on KCB in another quarter-final fixture.

Homeboyz, who upstaged Tusker in the round of 16, are aiming to defend their title and secure a place in continental football.

So high is their form, that they are yet to concede in the tournament which they last won last season, and are looking to become modern-day back-to-back victors of the competition that could secure them another stab at making the CAF Confederation Cup.

KCB, on the other hand, are aware of the importance of the cup competition as they look to compensate for their struggles in the league.
