The defending champions advanced to the FKF Cup quarterfinals after a closely contested match against Tusker FC in Kisumu.

Defending champions Kakamega Homeboyz booked their place in the last eight of the 2024 FKF Cup after a tightly contested 1-0 victory over Tusker FC on Saturday.

The crucial match, held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu, saw Oliver Majak become the hero for Homeboyz with an early header that sealed their progression.

From the onset, both teams demonstrated their eagerness to dominate the proceedings.

The first significant chance of the match fell to Tusker's Davis Odoyo within the first ten minutes. His powerful long-range effort took the Homeboyz defense by surprise, but goalkeeper James Ssetuna's quick reflexes prevented the Brewers from taking an early lead.

Despite this early scare, Homeboyz soon found their rhythm and struck what proved to be the decisive blow. Oliver Majak's precise header from John Omondi's cross in the 12th minute sent the Homeboyz fans into raptures, setting the tone for what was to be a nail-biting encounter.

The Brewers undeterred, mounted a series of attacks in their quest for an equalizer.

Tusker's relentless pursuit of a goal saw close attempts from Njuguna and Kibwage, both narrowly missing the target, adding to the drama of the match.

The Brewers believed they had their breakthrough in the 85th minute when Eric Otieno found the net, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside, much to their dismay.

In the closing minutes, Tusker continuous efforts to breach the Homeboyz defense were met with resistance, with the latter displaying resilience to maintain their slender lead.

Kenya Police 3-1 Mombasa Stars

Meanwhile, at the Police Sacco Stadium in South C, the FKF Cup's excitement continued as Kenya Police FC advanced to the quarterfinals with a commanding 3-1 victory over Mombasa Stars.

Alvin Mangeni's impressive brace, coupled with Tito Okello's contribution, secured their spot in the next round, with Alvin Ngoto scoring the consolation for Mombasa Stars.
