Both teams will be aiming to keep the heat on runaway league leaders Gor Mahia.

Tusker FC will square off with AFC Leopards in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match at the Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday.

The Brewers are now undefeated in their last seven matches in the league, having thumped Bidco United 3-1 in their last outing.

Tusker have a solid away record, with 17 points taken from 10 matches as hosts this season.

The Ruaraka-based outfit has lost just three league games this season, winning 11 and drawing six, and currently placed second on the standings.

In the season's first leg, the Brewers managed to beat Leopards 1-0 in a match played on December 4 at Moi International Sports Centre. Eric Mmata scored the lone goal of the match from the spot.

The task ahead for Tusker is expected to be tricky as they have failed to complete a double over Ingwe since the 2018 season when they won 4-2 and 4-0 home and away, respectively.

Robert Matano, the Tusker FC head coach, has previewed his side’s match against Leopards, describing it as a tough game, but insisted they are ready for the challenge.

"We have prepared ourselves very well for the game. Most of the players who were nursing injuries are now fit and back to training, although not all will be in the game.

AFC are a good team, and they have been strong this season as they also want to win the league; thus, I predict a very good and competitive match,” Matano said.

Their opponents AFC Leopards, have only lost once in their last five games and are currently third on the table and a point behind Tusker.

However, Leopards have scored just four goals in their last five matches and will need to start hitting the back of the net more if they are to have any chance of moving to the top of the table.

Ingwe have posted decent performances at home this season, claiming five wins, three draws, and suffering just two defeats from 10 turns as hosts. Their last win in the league was against Bandari six days ago.

Tom Juma, the AFC Leopards assistant coach, expects his side to win the match and move to the second spot.

"It will be a tough match, but we call for fairness in officiating. Last time out, Tusker players beat up a referee, and FKF is yet to take action against them. We are ready for the game and are in the title race," said Juma.

AFC Leopards forward Ojo Olaniyi is a big doubt for the Tusker game after he was stretchered off at half-time in FKF Cup match against Murang'a Seal

In the head-to-head stats, Tusker and AFC Leopards have met in 19 league matches since 2014. The Brewers have claimed 11 wins compared to just five for Ingwe, while three matches have been drawn.

Tusker boasts an unbeaten away record in the rivalry, with four wins and a draw from seven turns as visitors.
