Beldine Odemba has broken her silence after Harambee Starlets' 4-0 win over South Sudan, stressing the need for continued focus ahead of their crucial clash with Tanzania.

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has broken her silence following her side’s 4-0 triumph over South Sudan at the CECAFA Women's Championship in Tanzania.

Harambee Starlets oozed class as they silenced South Sudan, starting their campaign with a goal from Faith Mboya. Violet Nanjala and Martha Amunyolete then added goals before Elizabeth Ochaka rounded up Harambee Starlets’ goal haul.

Harambee Starlets have been unbeaten so far in their campaign and are due to face off against Tanzania on Saturday. They won their opening match against Burundi before silencing Uganda in their second match.

They extended their winning streak against South Sunday, and Beldine Odemba has shared plans for Harambee Starlets to dethrone Tanzania.

The Kenya Police Bullets' head coach revealed that their triumph over South Sudan is not that huge, but she was elated to have gained the maximum points.

Harambee Starlets are just behind hosts Tanzania, both teams having nine points after their three matches. She explained that ahead of their clash against Tanzania, they are putting in the work and they hope to come out with a win.

“It’s a good win…It's not a very big win, but it's a good win. It's good for us so far, we have the maximum points, 9 out of 9. It's a good thing for us,” Beldine Masika.

“You know, it's football. You never know about the results, but we are preparing well. We are preparing for the last match, and we are hoping for the best.”

She added that the level of women's football in East Africa has greatly improved, thanks to the CECAFA tournament, which has given players the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Beldine Odemba explained that there should be more CECAFA tournaments, hopefully yearly, to continue nurturing talents in the region.

She lauded Harambee Starlets for showing up and giving their all in their matches, noting that they were impressive in the second half.

“The teams have improved very much. You can see there's good competition in the CECAFA region, and I'm glad that women's football is growing in the CECAFA region,” she added.

“We hope that CECAFA should be held yearly, and we also hope to see other countries from the region participating.

“Not completely, but I thank them that they gave the best, especially in the second half. In the first half, we didn't have so much energy, but in the second half, they showed up.”

Beldine Odemba remains grounded despite Harambee Starlets’ unbeaten run. She emphasised the importance of continued preparation and growth ahead of their decisive clash with Tanzania.
