Police FC captain explains how the team is prepared to secure its first title from under the noses of Gor Mahia.

Kenya Police FC captain David Ochieng believes the team is primed to win major titles this year after coming of age.

Ochieng who was handed over the armband following the exits of Musa Mohammed and Patrick Matasi, is banking on quality and iron wheel mentality to wrestle the league title away from defending champions Gor Mahia despite the law enforcers recent poor form.

"It is an open secret that we have a big squad at Police. We have the right quality of players, who are capable of featuring in both competitions without the standards dropping. We are eyeing both trophies, and we believe we can do it,” he told Mozzartsports.

Police have hit poor form lately after mastering four points in their last three matches. Police managed a goalless draw against second-placed and fellow title contenders Tusker on February 8, before bouncing back in a big way to dismantle Bidco 2-0. They however got a dent on February 20 after an unlikely 1-0 against struggling Mathare United.

Despite the recent blip, Ochieng believes their destiny lies in own hands, arguing that they will fight till the end to achieve their objectives.

"This is our year, but we are humble enough to know that we have to keep on working hard. Right now, we are at the top of the league, and we know the fight we have to put in to get to the apex. The cup is full of surprises, but we are fully prepared,” he said.

The Law Enforcers have been the most convincing side since November last year and, consequently, sit at the summit of the log with 41 points after 22 rounds, underlying their resolve to land the elusive league gong.

The 12-time champions Tusker FC are a point behind while record champions Gor Mahia have amassed 36 points so far as the three-way title race battle enters the homestretch.
