Luis Suarez is set to miss six matches after he was suspended over a disgusting spitting incident last week.
Luis Suarez has been handed a six-match ban following the altercations involving Inter Miami players after last Sunday's Leagues Cup final against Seattle Sounders. The Uruguayan forward was cited for spitting at an opposing technical staff member.
In an official statement, the North American League sanctioned Luis Suarez, along with Sergio Busquets, Tomás Avilés, and a member of the Seattle Sounders' technical staff. The 38-year-old Uruguayan striker will serve his suspension during the 2026 edition of the Leagues Cup.
"At the end of the match, Inter Miami player Luis Suárez was reported by the Referee Commission for spitting at a member of the Seattle Sounders' technical staff," the statement read.

Luis Suarez: Former Liverpool Striker Facing Lengthy Ban After Disgusting Spitting Shame [VIDEO]
After past controversies that included biting and racially abusing opponents, Luis Suarez is at it again as he spat at a rival club official during a cup match on Sunday.
Suarez's Sanction Will Apply Only in MLS and Liga MX
"In accordance with Article 4.2 C of the Leagues Cup Competition Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee has imposed a six-match suspension on Luis Suárez. Therefore, he will not be able to participate in at least the next edition of the competition until he has fully served the sanction.
Suarez has since apologized for the incident which has further dented his already soiled reputation.
"It was a moment of great tension and frustration, where immediately after the match, things that shouldn't have happened, did happen. However, that doesn't justify the reaction I had. I made a mistake and I sincerely regret it. I'm sorry for what happened and I don't want to miss the opportunity to acknowledge this and apologize to everyone who felt hurt by what I did," said Inter Miami striker Luis Suarez in an Instagram post.
MLS has not commented on potential domestic league sanctions, so for now, Suarez's ban will apply only in Major League Soccer and Liga MX.
Sergio Busquets and Tomas Aviles Also Sanctioned
The Leagues Cup also announced sanctions for Sergio Busquets and Tomás Avilés, who exhibited violent conduct after the match concluded.
Busquets received a two-match suspension for punching Mexican footballer Obed Vargas in the face, which he must also serve in the Leagues Cup. Tomas Aviles will be sidelined for three matches due to violent conduct, although the specific reason was not detailed in the report.
