The two teams will continue their battle for supremacy when they resume Bundesliga action this weekend.
Gameweek 20 takes centre stage this weekend as the race for the title and top four heat up in Bundesliga.
Last weekend’s round of action delivered twists and turns as Bayern Munich and Union Berlin both swapped top spots.
Union had taken the top spot after beating Mainz 2-1 on Saturday, but Bayern regained the lead after beating Wolfsburg 4-2.
The race for the top four also got interesting, with only six points separating first and sixth. This weekend promises to be another exciting round of action.
Schalke vs Wolfsburg
Schalke kick off this week’s action as they host Wolfsburg at Veltins Arena. The Royal Blue need a win badly as they currently sit bottom of the league with 11 points, five points from safety.
Schalke are without a win in five games, but they drew their last two games. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg go into the game on the back of a 4-2 defeat against Bayern last week.

However, the Wolves are undefeated in their last six games against Schalke, although they played a goalless draw in the reverse fixture.
A win for Schalke will not take them off the bottom but it will keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg need a win if they want to stay in contention for a European spot.
RB Leipzig vs Union Berlin
The match of the round is definitely Leipzig’s game against Union Berlin. Die Roten host the Iron Ones in a match that will see second take on fourth.
Just three points separate the two sides, but Union are just one point behind leaders Bayern. Urs Fischer’s men could go top with a win, although it depends on Bayern’s result. Meanwhile, Leipzig could move above their rival with a win.

The two sides go into the game with contrasting results from their last games. Union beat Mainz while Leipzig played a goalless draw against Cologne.
Marco Rose’s men go in as the form side, however, as they are unbeaten in their last 12 games in the league.
However, Union Berlin have won the last four league meetings between the two sides.
Bayern Munich vs VFL Bochum
At the same time Union kick off their clash against Leipzig Bayern will also be in action as they host VFL Bochum.
Bayern have had an underwhelming start to 2023 in the league, with just one win in four games. The Bavaria giants allowed Union to catch up on them after playing a draw in their first three games.
However, they picked up their first win of the year last week, following a 4-2 win over Wolfsburg.
Meanwhile, VFL Bochum’s performances in the new year have been mixed, with two wins and two defeats.
The Undescendables are languishing in the bottom half of the table but they moved five points clear of relegation duty last week following a 5-2 win over relegation rivals Hoffenheim.
Nonetheless, they face a difficult challenge on Sunday as they are winless in their last ten matches against Bayern, losing the last nine.
Bayern are definitely the favourites for this one, having not lost in the league in their last 12 matches.
