Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania submitted their bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said that the East Africa joint Africa Cup of Nations 2027 bid will boost business in the region.
Museveni was speaking on Monday as he received the bid officially days after his counterpart from Kenya Dr William Ruto, received his copy.
“I have received Uganda’s AFCON 2027 joint bid with Kenya and Tanzania (EAC Pamoja bid),” Museveni tweeted in a brief statement.
Sports is good for health, entertainment and now, more so business. Therefore, for East Africa to come together to invite the African Cup of Nations here is very good. It will promote our countries and tourism will also increase.

During a meeting with the bidding committee for AFCON 2027, led by Justus Mugisha, the first vice president of the Uganda’s Football Association (FUFA), Among expressed her confidence in the region’s ability to successfully host the AFCON.
The bid was presented by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, and State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, who were flanked by the FUFA honcho Moses Magogo and his executive committee members.

The president did not commit to anything but said that sports is good for health, entertainment and that the tournament could spur tourism and business.

Pulse Sports has established Kenya as fronting three stadiums, namely Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, and Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, alongside the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, some 400km from the capital Nairobi as host venues.

The bid, dubbed the ‘Pamoja bid’, will face stiff competition from 2023 CHAN hosts Algeria and Egypt, who hosted the 2019 AFCON and this year’s Under-20 AFCON.
Egypt also hosted Uganda Cranes' home match against Tanzania after the country failed to produce a stadium that met the minimum requirements.
