Chelsea have announced the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal making him their second signing of the summer.

The release clause of the Villarreal attacker was activated by Chelsea for slightly over €35 million.

Since the beginning of the transfer window, Jackson, who scored 13 goals in 38 games for Villarreal last season, has been a target for Chelsea.

After several negotiations, the transfer fee was finally accepted, Chelsea have now officially announced Nicolas Jackson as their new player.

Chelsea announce Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea have officially announced their second signing of the summer after Christopher Nkunku joined from RB Leipzig.

According to Fabrizio’s report on Twitter, “It's official, confirmed. Nico Jackson is a new Chelsea player on an 8-year deal and on a €37m fee from Villarreal. Confirmed, completed.”

The arrival of the Senegalese forward makes him Chelsea's second summer addition after Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.

Chelsea were able to fend off interest from Southampton and Bournemouth and signed the powerful forward who shone last season for Villarreal.

Chelsea’s Co-sporting directors excited with Jackson’s signing

Co-sporting directors have expressed their pleasure at the new signing Nicolas Jackson and have welcomed him to the club.

During Jackson’s announcement, Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said, “We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season.

“We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.”

Jackson's most notable quality is his ability to transition well in games and use his strength and pace.
