Apart from Camp Toyoyo, the county government is to oversee completion of among other stadia the Dandora, Kigumbu-ini, Githurai and Nairobi City.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has pledged to ensure that there will be a budget in place to ensure that all stadia turfs in the county are renovated in order to give players and teams platforms to train and play in better conditions.

During the launch of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom season four tournament at the Camp Toyoyo grounds in Nairobi, it was clear to see that the turf on the grounds was overused and worn out, prompting discussions to take place on whether the ground should be re-carpeted.

Speaking during the launch, the senator said that ten percent of the devolved funds given to Nairobi county would be dedicated to stadia maintenance within the county,

“500 million was allocated (to the Nairobi County government) to help run the affairs of the county. If only 10% of it is allocated to infrastructure maintenance, we will be able to repair the turfs, not just here at Camp Toyoyo, but also other pitches.

“The problem is that this current pitch is taking too much pressure because many teams are using it, making it wear out quickly.”

“We also want the Dandora Stadium to be completed. We are advocating for Governor Sakaja to also complete the Kihumbu-ini turf, the Githurai 44 turf, and most importantly, the City Stadium turf.”
