City Stars' Kubasu has shared his journey, highlighting his growth and challenges faced in matches against Gor Mahia in the FKF Premier League.

Nairobi City Stars midfielder Abuyeka Kubasu has come a long way since his top-flight debut against Gor Mahia in September 2023.

In a recent encounter on Saturday, 17 February 2024, during a matchday 22 FKF Premier League tie in Machakos, Kubasu not only faced Gor Mahia for the second time in five months but also marked his most significant minutes on the field since joining the top league.

Coming on early in the second half for Japanese forward Yuto Kusaba, Kubasu showcased his growth and determination to make an impact in Kenya's premier football league.

Reflecting on his journey, Kubasu shared his excitement and gratitude for the opportunities he's received.

"I had waited for long and I am happy to have finally returned to the field. I gave my all against and I will do the same when handed more playtime in the upcoming games," he said.

His debut against Gor Mahia in Kasarani during matchday three, where he earned 15 minutes of playtime alongside former Vapor teammate Robinson Asenwa, was just the beginning of what promises to be a bright career in football.

Kubasu's path to becoming a key player for Nairobi City Stars has not been without its challenges.

"It has not been easy for me because I had to return to the basics and improve on a few areas that I needed to upgrade and improve on during training sessions and friendly games," he noted.

The midfielder believes in hard work and dedication, values instilled in him by his coaches and teammates.

"Nothing comes easy. To get here, motivation from my coaches and teammates has been worth appreciating. I am now happy and raring to go," he added.

Between his two notable performances against Gor Mahia, Kubasu made a brief appearance against Kenya Police on matchday six at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Despite the long wait of four-and-a-half months for what was only his third premier league game, Kubasu's spirit and commitment to the game have only strengthened.
