Vincent Nyaberi is beefing up his squad ahead of their maiden FKFPL campaign but he feels it would be problematic working with top-flight stars.

Murang’a Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi does not intend to beef up his squad with many players who have Premier League experience since he feels it would be problematic working with them.

Seal earned top-flight promotion after finishing second to Shabana FC in the second-tier National Super League (NSL) and have been linked with a number of players from both the Premier League and lower leagues.

However, the tactician feels it would be less problematic working with players coming from the lower leagues than the Premier League hence his decision to target most of his new signings in the NSL.

“Most of the players I want to sign do not have Premier League experience, they are from the NSL because if you observe how players play in that league, when they come to the top flight it, could be a little easier for them to follow instructions,” Nyaberi told Pulse Sports.

“Some of the new players have started training with us. One is a former Bandari player, another from Bidco United and we have others from NSL clubs.”

Former Bidco midfielder Zachary Gathu and SS Assad midfielder Wilberfoce Lugogo are the players believed to have agreed terms with the club with Mara Sugar’s Dennis Maruti and MCF FC right-back Dennis Munyovi close to joining them.

Bonphas Munyasa and defender Elvis Ronack, both from Sofapaka and ex-Bidco players Batts Awita, Lucas Indeche, and left-back Geoffrey Kariuki have also been heavily linked with Murang’a.

Nyaberi is targeting between five and six new players, resisting the temptation to make wholesome changes to his squad which he feels could be disruptive.

“There were some positions where I had challenges in the NSL and I must beef up in defence, goalkeeping, midfield, and striking,” he added.

“The team that got us promoted was not a bad one. It would not be good to replace them and bring a whole new team which will take time to gel.”

Seal are also not setting lofty ambitions for their maiden Premier League season as their coach expects a bumpy ride given he will be making some few changes to the style that served them so well in the NSL.

“Our aim is to maintain our Premier League status, I cannot claim I want the title. I want to fight and get into the top 10 then from there, we will plan how to get higher up the table,” said Nyaberi.
