The immediate former captain revealed that he is still ready to don an Ingwe shirt having held positive talks with head coach Tom Juma.

Eugine Mukangula has revealed that his time at AFC Leopards may not be over after all despite coming to the end of his contract at the club.

Mukangula, who left Ingwe recently ending his five year stay with the side having joined from Thika United in 2018, scored the all-important goal in Leopards last game of the season, a win over Ulinzi Stars in the third-place playoff of the Mozzart Bet Cup in July.

He scored the goal just weeks after he had been deposed as captain of the club, together with his deputy Peter Thiong’o.

“It is not that I have left, there is some uncertainity, it is just that my contract is over and I need to have a sitdown with them in order to know my future and all that stuff,” Mukangula told Pulse Sports.

“We have not sat down and spoken anything about it. Sometimes, as humans, when you do not speak to someone who you had a deal with, you just join the dots and you say,’maybe the guy is not interested and all that stuff’ so no one has sat down with you and explained whether they need your services.

“So you just add one plus one and you start thinking about your future and everything. I cannot say it was my last, but I cannot say that it was not my last either.”

The dreadlocked midfield maestro has revealed he held positive talks with new head coach Tom Juma who wanted him to stay, but the final decision still has to lie with the club’s national excecutive council, who reached the decision to strip him off the captaincity in June.

“I only spoke to Tom Juma. We spoke about everything and it looked positive, but now we have to wait for the officials’ part. You may speak to me on my future, but it does not lie with me until the officials decide.

“If there comes a chance where they will  want to speak to me, I will listen to them.”

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has revealed that Leopards “have massive potential” and are “a great club” that have the capability to get back to the heights of winning league titles soon.

“It is a great club. It has the potential. It has been years since it last won the league. Everyone wanted to get AFC Leopards back to where it belongs in my time at the club and with the players we had.

“ Everyone was there giving their best. I am sure everyone including the management wants AFC Leopards to return to the heights of being a big club.

“There are upcoming players who can reach that level that other players were unable to reach. If everything is put in order and the current coach is given time, they will reach their full potential.”
