The versatile forward is set to boost Ingwe following the end of his stint with Kenya Police

Cliffton Miheso has rejoined AFC Leopards, seven years after leaving the club, following the end of his stint with Kenya Police FC.

The experienced winger had been rumoured to be training with Ingwe after being released by the Law Enforcers and has now confirmed his return to the Den.

“A leopard cannot change its spots. Yamateree,” Miheso posted on social media while confirming his return to the club which he turned out for last in 2016.

Miheso joins Leopards at a time when Ingwe’s hands are tied due to their transfer ban following non-payment of dues owed to former head coach Patrick Aussems.

The winger, alongside other new arrivals, are hoping that the club can find a solution to the issue soon so that they can be registered in time to feature for Ingwe in the 2023-24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season when they begin their campaign with a home clash against FC Talanta on Sunday 27 August.

The former Gor Mahia midfielder will add creativity, goals, and experience to an Ingwe side that lacked all that last season when they limped to a seventh-place finish. He managed five goals for Police last season although he was not a regular starter under head coach Francis Baraza.

The 30-year-old left Leopards in 2016 for South African side Golden Arrows where he had bit-part roles before ditching them for Buildcon FC in Zambia and also had a short stint at Clube Olímpico do Montijo in Portugal before returning home to join Kenya Police, then plying their trade in the National Super League.

He left them to join Gor Mahia in 2019 and after a two-year stint, rejoined Police following their promotion to the Premier League.

Miheso emerged as the second top scorer in the league in 2021-22 season after netting 15 goals, one shy of Derrick Otanga of KCB, with the Law Enforcers extending his deal.

Leopards are crying out for reinforcements given they had to do with a lean squad in 2022-23 due to another transfer ban with Aussems forced to rely on a number of youngsters who struggled to cope with the demands and intensity of the top flight.

New coach Tom Juma has called for a speedy resolution to their transfer ban to avert what he terms a nightmare scenario where he might be forced to head into the new season without additions to his squad.
