Tusker FC vice-captain Michael Kibwage has dismissed skeptics, vowing a strong comeback in the FKF Premier League title race.

Tusker FC vice-captain Michael Kibwage has delivered a strong message to those doubting his team's chances in the ongoing 2023/2024 FKF Premier League race.

Despite a recent setback in their campaign, Kibwage remains optimistic about Tusker FC's prospects, underlining the team's determination to prove skeptics wrong.

The Brewers, currently positioned fourth in the league standings, experienced a disappointing 1-0 defeat to league leaders Gor Mahia last weekend.

This result has sparked discussions among football enthusiasts and analysts, with some questioning Tusker FC's capability to contend for the title.

However, Kibwage, undeterred by the opinions of naysayers, has voiced a strong rebuttal.

"There is a lot at stake to fight for until the end of the season. We have the FKF Cup and the league is not gone. A 12-point gap is just four games. So, every game is a final for us, and our goal is to win every game and see what happens next," Kibwage said, exuding confidence in his team's ability to turn the tide.

The vice-captain's resolve comes in the wake of comments from Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry, who suggested that Tusker FC, having lost several games, should not be considered serious title contenders.

Kibwage, 26, also expressed his disappointment over the recent loss to Gor Mahia.

"It was not the result we expected. We wanted to narrow the gap with our opponents, and now we are looking forward to a better outcome in our next match," he stated, acknowledging the setback but also highlighting his team's forward-looking mindset.

Gor Mahia's formidable form this season has been a talking point in the league. The team remains unbeaten, boasting 43 points from 19 games and showcasing the strongest defense in the division, having conceded a mere seven goals.

Despite these challenges, Tusker FC is not out of the running. With 31 points, they are poised to narrow the gap between them and the league leaders.

Their upcoming match against Bidco United on Friday 2 February presents an opportunity for the Brewers to make a significant statement and reaffirm their title aspirations.
