Mighty Eagles Academy intensify Gothia Cup preparations

The Kitale-based soccer academy was established in 2019 and it engages young people from different villages with poor backgrounds in the region.

Mighty Eagles Academy has intensified preparations ahead of the Gothia Cup to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, in July this year.

The Kenyan academy returned to their regular training base in Kitale on Friday under the watch of head coach Sammy Ochami together with several other CAF D-trained coaches.

Speaking to Pulse Sports, the academy Director Moses Zewedi said that all was going according to plans, with the players going through the process of acquiring travel documents.

“All the players are in and raring to go.The training is going on fine as we are gradually crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s.,” he said.

However, we are still looking for sponsors, and we are appealing for well-wishers to come and support us.”

Mighty Eagles Academy was established in 2019, and it engages young people from different villages with poor backgrounds in the region.

“We have many expectations because if we make it to the tournament our boys might be scouted and that will change their families lives,” he added.

Might Eagles Academy will have over 20 players participating in the Gothia Cup, where they have been accepted to play in the U-17 age group of the soccer jamboree.

The academy has been involved in different tournaments and matches in Kitale, and they recently clinched Under-15 and Under-13 Trans Nzoia County league titles.
