The custodian has been with Tusker on two separate stints.
After spending 19 months with Tusker FC, Patrick Matasi made the switch to Kenya Police FC on Tuesday and revealed that playing in the CAF inter-club competitions was his greatest achievement with the Brewers.
Tusker snapped up Matasi for a second stint at the club on the Bosman rule after parting ways with Ethiopian giants St. George FC following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 35-year-old was handed a lifeline by the Ruaraka-based club after suffering a grisly road accident back in June 2021 that left him with a broken hand and shoulder.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Matasi opened up on his greatest achievement at Tusker which was one of the missing accolades in his glittering career.
“I hadn't played club continental football which I did (at Tusker), I have been in the Africa Cup of Nations, but I hadn't played the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Tusker gave me that platform because even when I went for AFCON, I was in Tusker. The club has enabled me to express myself and return to my best after what happened on the 1st of June,” said Matasi.
After winning the league back in 2021, Tusker qualified for the CAF Champions League where they were eliminated by Zamalek SC and bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of CS Sfaxien.
The former AFC Leopards shot-stopper admitted that bidding farewell to his Tusker family was tough adding that he relished his time with the club.
“It is hard (to leave) because it's already showing in the way the players are now, which is normal. They have been family together with the fans, the Youth team, the technical bench, the media, and the officials.
To my fellow players, it has been a good journey, joking, and participating in the rondo, from the captain to the youngest it has been good working with them,” said the former Posta Rangers custodian.
