Manchester United are reported to be in talks with highly sought-after Swedish striiker Viktor Gyokeres over a possible transfer although they face stiff competition.

Viktor Gyokeres remains a hot commodity in the transfer market after he turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal.

The Swedish striker publicly declined a reported €35 million plus bonuses from Al-Hilal and new information now suggests Manchester United are in the frame.

However, talk of a move to Old Trafford is premature. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils would need to offload Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford to accommodate the Sporting striker. Reports indicate that preliminary talks have taken place with intermediaries regarding a potential transfer to Manchester.

Will United Manage To Pay The Hefty Fee?

A source close to Sporting confirmed to A Bola that no official bid for Gyokeres has been received. It's understood that a meeting between the player and President Frederico Varandas earlier this season didn't establish a specific price, although the possibility of Sporting negotiating a fee below his €100 million release clause was discussed.

Besides United, Juventus and Arsenal have been the clubs most frequently linked with the goalscorer, who is keen to play for a Champions League contender, although the Gunners are reported to be in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
